Excuses. They’re what’s stopping us.

Have you ever wondered why you can WANT to do something. And mean to do it. And somehow keep putting it off? Or maybe even give up trying?

Many times, it’s our excuses that stand in our way. There’s no time. I’m too busy. I don’t like doing that. My husband/wife/boyfriend/girlfriend doesn’t think I should. People will think I’m crazy. I’ll probably fail.

They’re all excuses. And you can let go of them. Once you do, you’ll be free. You can do ANYTHING once you accept that you’re making excuses…and then let them go.

When I think about it…my most common excuse for myself is that I don’t KNOW what to do. Well, I have to let that go. Do the research, figure out what to do. And do it. And if I fail, just do it another way…and another way…and another way, until I get it right. Never starting something because I “don’t know how” is no excuse. Not in today’s age of information and technology.

What’s your most common excuse?? And how can you let it go?

Flat Belly Challenge with yours truly!

So here’s my story, in a nutshell…and why I’m doing a challenge… {{Please note, I run a challenge like this EVERY month, so even if this post looks old, it’s still relevant!}}

I haven’t had kids (by choice!) But…as I got a little older, I was slowly gaining pounds. (why can’t we all stay 25?!) To say the least, I wasn’t crazy about gaining 2 pants sizes. Hey I know that’s not a lot, but it was enough to notice. I admitted early that I needed to do something. When I committed to making a change I went all in & haven’t looked back. FItness is part of my daily life now and I am so passionate about it that I always look for ways to pay it forward.

So now I’m looking for some ladies to make THEIR change WITH me. If you have been thinking about it, wanting and wishing you could really change, now’s the time to step up! I’ll be working closely with this group, daily. We’ll be serious about accountability & fitness and I’ll share TONS of tips & ideas, meal planning & motivation.

I am only taking 5 ladies so let me know NOW! I lost 2 sizes & am FITTER than I was when I was 25 and I know I can guide you to do the same. Your only role right now — COMMIT. Once you commit, I’ll help you do the rest!

So. Are you in? Comment below — or email me (amyromerova@outlook.com) if you want to know more about the details…!!! I can’t wait,  y’all!

Have you messed up your diet?

I admit, there’s more days than I’d like to admit where I feel like I failed at my ‘healthy eating’. (I try not to call it a diet.) I’m still susceptible to eating JUNK when I’m stressed or if I get too hungry and haven’t planned well.

I know I”m not alone. I get emails and messages about it all the time. It’s tempting to give up after having a rough go at mealtime for a few days…or weeks. But I have to remind myself – and I’m reminding you, that a few bad meals or a few bad days or weeks…does not mean you should give up. It does NOT negate all the hard work you’ve been through. Actually the same goes for missing workouts. Maybe you worked out religiously for 2 weeks but then you just sort of lost interest and haven’t done anymore for 2 weeks. You haven’t failed! Those 2 weeks you did complete are still with you. Just get back to it and be kind to yourself. The most important thing is to get your mind back in the game and just START again.

I created the poster below based on what I tell myself and what I try to pass along to you guys. Feel free to share on Pinterest, Facebook, or wherever you’d like. I think we all need to be reminded of it now and again.

Have you ever given up on a fitness program or a diet because you felt like you’d failed after having some bad days/weeks?

What do you want?

That may have sounded snide or rude, but I certainly didn’t mean for it to be rude.

What I mean is…have you thought about it lately? What do you want? What are your goals? Why do you want to be healthy? Thinking about your WHY is very helpful in keeping your motivation. Making that your North Star can help you when you stray. When you don’t feel like working out. Or when you don’t feel like eating a healthier lunch.

So think about it for a minute.

Why do you want to be healthy and fit?

My hubby and me in Ireland

Is it to set a good example for your kids?
Is it so you can be around to see your grandkids grow up?
Maybe you just want to feel better?
Or perhaps you want to fit back in those old jeans?

Now that your reason. Write it down. Put it everywhere. Your bathroom mirror, your smart phone, your screen saver. Tell your significant other, your coworkers. The more people you tell and the more places you put it, the more likely it is that you’ll stay focused more often. Tell yourself every day why you want this. You may just find yourself making more and more decisions in line with that.

For me, my reason for wanting to be healthy is because I want to be able to enjoy my family and my friends and to continue to be able to travel and enjoy myself. I want to look and feel good and not having any physical or health problem stand in my way. That’s what keeps me going when I don’t feel like it. Now that the habit of working out and eating well is engrained in my life, I really do enjoy it and look forward to it. But some days, I still don’t wanna…for some reason. And that’s when I revisit my WHY.

So tell me, why do YOU want to be healthy and fit?  Share below, please!

Weekly Challenge #3

Do you have goals?

Well how do you keep them in mind? Do you plan tasks that will help you accomplish those goals or are they sort of just arbitrarily hanging out there?
Your challenge this week is to really LIST and organize your goals.
So take 10 minutes. Really sit and think about, say your top 10 goals. Make them wild and crazy. You don’t have to show them to anyone…just really be creative and think “What would be the most AMAZING things I’d like to achieve?”
Write them all down, and then on a separate sheet of paper, start brainstorming how they are connected. So maybe one of your goals was to quit work. And another goal was to start your own business. And another was to take more vacations. Take those and order them in the way in which they would need to occur. So if one would lead to another, for instance. So maybe you have to start your own business before you could quit work. Then your business would have to succeed for you to take more vacations, right?
Now decide which one is the one that LEADS to all the rest. Chalene Johnson calls this your “Push” goal. In the example above, the push goal would probably be to start your own business. Because it makes the rest happen. Highlight that one. Put stars around it. Circle it. That’s the one that is the KEY for the rest to happen. Now write that one everyone. Save it in your phone. Make it your screensaver.
And start ACTING toward it TODAY. Tiny, baby steps each day. Do something every day that will help you reach that goal eventually. Even if it’s just that you’ll research one element of something that you’ll need to know. Or perhaps it’s one little phone call that you’ll need to get the ball rolling. Just do something to move you toward your goal.
I’d definitely recommend you pick up Chalene Johnson’s book, “Push: 30 Days to Turbocharged Habits, a Bangin’ Body, and the Life you Deserve!” She has a very specific, fabulous system to really dive into this and get your life organized and working toward your goals. Why wait, right?
Now, you don’t HAVE to share your push goal with anyone. But I think you SHOULD. People can help you. And when you say it out loud, you are much more willing to work toward it. Sooooo, don’t be shy, tell us what your BIG GOAL is, below!!
